** WHAT A SETTING FOR THE SUPER-CRUISE**

Thank You Larry Nevue, for this *GREAT* first hand report on the January 20-21, Phoenix, Arizona PT CRUISER, get-together. And Gary Dial & Steve Hyslop, for the SUPER pictures.. Enjoy the story, and DROOL, like I have, and see you *ALL* in Vegas in May..

Hi All, First of all, I'm going to try to get the pictures in to develop after work today. The attached ones were sent to me by Gary Dial, who organized the Supercruise. The two end of day pics actually caught Trish, who was walking over to take some pics. She's in the blue letterman's jacket. I'm behind a white haired lady in one of the shots.
There were 103 registered Cruisers, of which 101 were able to attend. 73 Cruisers went on the Saturday cruise. We were in the middle, and there were PTs as far as you could see in both directions, all running with their fog lights on. It was quite a sight. I don't have my paperwork here at work, but we had several vendors in attendance, with a lot of after-market accessories available. PTeazer, PT Tuning, California Cruisers, and others were there. PT Tuning had a supercharged PT there, and yeah it's quick. It uses a Whipple Supercharger. Jan, too bad you couldn't make it with your intercooled turbo. Various exhaust systems were displayed, the ubiquitous Borla system, and a Dynomax single exhaust setup come to mind. The Flowmaster dual unit being tested - it looks a lot like the Borla. Scottsdale Muffler had a great looking system, which is entirely different from the others. Basically, it has a glass-pack muffler way up front, close behind the catalytic converter. Then it has a single tube going to the rear, which splits into two pipes behind the gas tank, going to both sides of the rear. It is set up to avoid the spare tire, so you can still drop the spare with no problem. This was another beta test version, but they should have it ready to ship soon, as a do-it-yourself installation. In fact it was the grand prize at the cruise, and Bubba-NV was the winner. When they have it ready for shipping, they'll send it to him and he'll install it. They are shooting for a $400 price, and PTCC members will get it for $350. You'll also have your choice of exhaust tips. It's a very clean looking system, and sounded nice too.
There were two cruises, one each day. We met Saturday morning, registered and walked around looking at all of the PTs, then voted for our favorite cars. There were three favorites. The one we voted for was one of the three winners. It was a white PT from Texas, set up very retro. The bumpers were painted, and re-chromed 37 Ford bumpers were fit into them, both front and rear. There were fake spots and lake pipes. He had removed the rear view mirrors and installed small chrome mirrors at the top of the doors. He had also gone for old style painted steel wheels, with baby moons. It was a very clean car. Dragon Hunter was also there, showing off his car, which now sports some great looking fender skirts. They really set that car off. But he didn't win, since a lot of the things he has done to his car you don't see.
After that, they gave away prizes, then had lunch. Then we cruised. There were a lot of nice paint jobs. The two that really caught my eye were both using the chroma color paint. One was on the entire car, which shifted between green, blue and purple. The other was a flame job on a silver PT with the PTeazer front end. I can't overstate what a great time we had. The event was very well organized. The people at the Casino were wonderful, setting up a great lunch for us. In fact, the event wasn't even over and they were already asking us back for next year. We had a parking lot set apart from everyone else. The cruises were through some great desert (what else) scenery, very pretty. We finished the event Sunday by all going to lunch together in Cave Creek, at a great Mexican restaurant. The hotel accommodations were wonderful, at a very low rate. I would recommend the Hotel Waterfront Ivy to everyone who's going next year. Next year's event will be bigger and better, with an evening function also included. What a great bunch of people all of these other Cruisers are! A very friendly, considerate laid back group of people. As Trish remarked, she had never bought a car before that came with all of these friends. It's been mentioned before in some of the forums, but the use of walkie-talkies really adds to the cruise. It lets everyone know what is happening, such as if some of the group is delayed at a traffic light, or coordinating getting the group back together when a lot of non-PTers are getting mixed into the caravan. Then of course, there is all of the joking back and forth. They can be purchased for a very low price. Or, if you want lots of bells and whistles you can pay a little more. And no, I don't sell them, but I can get them from you wholesale. :) The weather couldn't have been better. It was around 65, with no clouds and no wind on Saturday. And a light wind Sunday morning. Trish and I are looking forward to next year's Supercruise - we'll be there. We'd like to see all of you there too. I promise you a great weekend. A couple of things on Vegas. Manley said that there are already about 260 registered. There are people coming from 20 states and MANY countries. There are a group of PTers from New England who are going to rent a car hauler, and have a bunch of their cars hauled out to Vegas.

PLEASE ALLOW A BIT OF TIME FOR PICTURES TO LOAD, GO GET A CUP OF JAVA, AND COME BACK IN A FEW MINUTES, IT IS WELL WORTH IT..

The last pic, with two guys standing out front talking to us, has Gary Dial with the black cowboy hat and the bull horn, and Manley Bland, the SW PTCC director. Finally, that pretty Taupe, with the Thistle incorporated into the pinstripe on the rear hatch, is the new PT belonging to Steve Hyslop, who took all of the pics.
